Walk to School Week

Living Streets Walk to School Week is taking place from 20 May – 24 May 2024.

Walk to School Week is a five-day walking challenge in which pupils are encouraged to travel actively to school every day of the week. They earn stickers as they go along and a special reward at the end.

Classmates work together to make as many active journeys as possible, tracking their progress on the classroom wallchart. This year’s theme is ‘The Magic of Walking’. Children will learn about the important reasons to walk or wheel and it’s benefits for individuals, communities and the planet.

You can use your PE and Sport Premium funding to cover the cost of the walk to school week packs.

Kent School Games Films

The Kent School Games, coordinated by Active Kent & Medway, aims to engage those most affected by inequalities and to support the positioning of physical activity across our network of schools.

We’re delighted to share the following films that capture the great work that’s going on around the county to provide positive experiences for children and young people, to support personal development through leadership and volunteering, and to help support Year 6 students transitioning to secondary school PE and sport. We’d like to thank the schools, students and school games organisers who contributed to these inspirational films.

Ramadan Guidance

""

Ramadan guidance developed by Dr Irfan Khawaja at Birmingham City University (BCU) will help create a more inclusive school environment for Muslim students and staff engaging in physical education during Ramadan. This year Ramadan takes place from 10 March to 9 April 2024.

The guidance gives schools practical advice for supporting fasting Muslim students and staff during Islam’s Holy Month so they can continue to participate in physical activity.

The guidance advocates for inclusive activities and timetabling that minimise adaptations and avoid drawing attention to Muslim students during Ramadan.

Free Training on Asthma

Asthma logo

Asthma is the most common long-term medical condition in children and young people and sadly, every year, children continue to avoidably die from asthma.

The NHS has training available for all who care for children and young people with asthma to help improve their understanding and awareness of the issue.

We encourage anyone who supports children and young people with asthma to complete this free online training (Tier 1).
