Active Kent & Medway recently collaborated with Explore Kent to help them secure funding from the Southeastern Community Improvement Fund in order to connect Gravesham with the King Charles III England Coast Path.

The funding will cover two elements of the project:

Interpretation Boards
Designing two interpretation boards to be displayed at both Gravesend and Northfleet stations. The boards will detail the route from both stations to the coast path with the aim of encouraging more people to visit from rail travel. The boards will also showcase some of the wonderful things people will see and can do on these routes.

Events Programme
Delivering a Spring/Summer 2025 programme of events to encourage the community to discover the benefits of the coastal path and engage in activity along it. We want to showcase the best of the coastal path and what Gravesham has to offer. All events will be accessible from Gravesend or Northfleet station and will comprise a variety of activities targeting different demographics within the community. If you’re a local organisation or activity provider who would like to be involved and contribute to the events programme, the team at Explore Kent would love to hear from you. Sophie Ward, Partnerships Manager and Active Environments Lead at Active Kent & Medway said,

“I’m delighted that we’ve been successful in securing this funding from Southeastern. It will help to raise awareness of what’s on the doorstep for many local communities, providing more opportunities for people to get active and take advantage of the great outdoors. This will enable more people to benefit both physically and mentally from the wonderful green and blue spaces that Kent has to offer.”
