Everyday Active
Everyday Active is Active Kent & Medway’s flagship campaign helping people to move more in their everyday life. The website, www.everydayactivekent.org.uk is central to the campaign. It promotes low cost, accessible activities offered by partners countywide. It also provides support, resources and training for health professionals, social prescribers, One You advisers and other partners to have meaningful conversations about physical activity and equips them to provide appropriate activity suggestions.

Free TEAM Challenge

Keeping active is great for our physical health and improving our mental wellbeing and doing it as a team can be especially rewarding.
Gather your colleagues, friends or family and join the new Everyday Active TEAM Challenge this April and let’s move together. You don’t have to be active with your team members but do support and encourage each other throughout the month.
Whether you’re walking, wheeling, swimming, cycling, or just staying active, every step counts. Track your progress, compete with other teams, and enjoy the journey to a healthier lifestyle.
Live Longer Better Network Event

We are delighted to announce our next Live Longer Better Network Event will take place online on Thursday 27 March, 1pm-2.30pm.
The event is a great opportunity to connect with other network members and hear about active ageing activities (physical, cognitive and emotional) across Kent and Medway. You’ll hear from speakers who will share their knowledge on Funding, Active Environments and Planning, and Engaging Older Adults in Physical Activity. Even if you haven’t joined the network yet, you and your colleagues are welcome to join us for the event.
Carers Active April

Spring into action with Carers Active April 2025. The month-long campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity for carers and highlight the benefits of moving more. Carers often face a challenging time, and see their own health and wellbeing impacted by their caring responsibilities.
Finding ways to improve health and wellbeing as a carer remains crucial, and Carers Active April is a chance to kickstart that activity. There are a number of ways to get involved so that carers can be active across April and beyond, from Carers Active online sessions, tracking your activity to a range of useful resources on the Carers Active Hub.
Social Value of Sport

In October 2024, Sport England announced the annual social value of sport and physical activity across England was £107.2 billion in 2022/23. Broken down by a ‘primary’ value of £96.7 billion placed on the wellbeing of adults, children and young people taking part or volunteering in sport and physical activity, and a ‘secondary’ value of £10.6 billion on the wider savings to the health and social care system.
They have now released the local breakdown by region, Active Partnership and Local Authority. The local data shows the regions in England with the greatest combined social value in 2022/23 were the Southeast (£18.3bn), London (£16.2bn) and the Northwest (£13.8bn). For Active Kent & Medway, the figures show a total social value of £3.5 billion, made up of £3.2 billion in annual wellbeing and 0.3 billion in wider savings.
Active Practice Charter

Congratulations to Hamstreet Surgery, near Ashford, who have been awarded the ‘Royal College of General Practice (RGCP) Active Practice Charter’. The Charter demonstrates a commitment to increase physical activity levels in both patients and staff and to be part of an active community.
Hamstreet Surgery has adopted several great initiatives, including a free 10-week Health Coaching course for people of all levels of fitness to learn more about various aspects of physical health and mental wellbeing, in a supportive and fun environment. The surgery also has lifestyle advice on their website to signpost patients to information on drugs & alcohol, exercise, sleeping, smoking, sexual health and weight management.
