The aim of the Kent County Council Facility Development Grant Scheme for Sport is to encourage the development of sports in the county by offering grants to organisations to improve facilities and widen participation. In order for your application to be successful it must support one or more of the following KCC outcomes:

• Children and Young People have better physical and mental health
• All Children and Young People are engaged and thriving to reach their potential
• Increase participation in sporting activity by those aged 11-25
• Physical and mental health is improved by supporting people to take more responsibility for their own health and well-being.
• Kent residents enjoy a good quality of life and are more people benefit from greater social, cultural and sporting opportunities.
• Older and vulnerable residents feel socially included.

Grants are available of up to £10,000 (The maximum amount of funding awarded of £10,000 is reserved only for projects of countywide strategic significance).

What we will fund:

• Provision of facilities for Kent communities, including specialist facilities, training centres and centres of excellence and performance
• Purchase new community ‘fixed’ equipment (not personal equipment or ‘road’ vehicles)
• Improvements to existing buildings and sites (excluding education sites), or conversion of redundant buildings


Eligibility

Applicant organisations must:

• be registered on our club/organisation database
• be located within the Kent County Council administrative boundary
• not be a borough or district council
• not have started the project
• not be asking for 100% of the funding costs
• Already have planning permission (if it’s required).


Notes

We only accept applications for Facility Development Grants for Sport in February, May, August and October but you can work on your application throughout the year. Kent County Council, as host agency, have the right to audit and monitor to check the grant is being spent appropriately and in  accordance with the conditions of the award.

Applications will be assessed by our Active Kent & Medway Funding and Facilities Panel and the Cabinet Member for Community and Regulatory Services and we will let you know the outcome by the end of the month after the application is received.
