Active Kent & Medway is committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity and working to ensure positive, accessible experiences in sport and physical activity for all.

To help guide our work, we have published a summary of our 2024-27 Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP). The plan sets out our commitment, our ambitions and the actions that we will take to increase diversity and ensure we continue to foster a culture of inclusion, within our own organisation and all that we do across sport and physical activity.

Our plan addresses challenges that we face internally, including increasing knowledge, skills and confidence of staff and Board to work to improve diversity and inclusion, along with representation to ensure that the future makeup of Staff, Senior Leadership Team and Board are drawn from a greater diversity of backgrounds.

The plan is also designed to reflect and support Move Together, the countywide strategy for sport and physical activity. With its vision to get ‘More People, More Active, More Often’ and to ‘improve lives through sport and physical activity’ with an unashamed focus on tackling the inequalities so intrinsically linked to inactivity. It captures our unwavering commitment to influencing and championing change and ensuring that we are all engaging with and listening to our diverse communities.

“Our aim is for Active Kent & Medway to represent all backgrounds and ensure opportunities to engage with sport and physical activity are inclusive, open and accessible. We must be the change we want to see.” Liz Davidson, Active Partnership Director
