More than 90 partners from across health, education, local government, sport, community and physical activity sector came together on 15 and 16 September 2026 for our Power of Movement event, exploring how place-based working can help create more active futures for children, young people and families across Kent.
Held in Maidstone, the two-day event welcomed system leaders, health practitioners, education leads and activity providers to share insights, strengthen relationships and explore how we can work together to tackle inequalities and increase opportunities to be active.
The event marks an important milestone for our Place Universal Offer programme, backed by investment from Sport England, which is being developed across Ashford, Dartford, Maidstone, and Folkestone & Hythe. The relationships, ideas and momentum generated through the event will help shape local action and support a more joined-up approach to improving physical activity opportunities within local communities.

Active Kent & Medway will now build on the conversations and connections made during the event to support the development of the Place Universal Offer across the four areas, ensuring local insight and partnership working remain at the heart of the approach.
