Active Kent & Medway’s FANS scheme (Free Access for National Sports People) provides support to the county’s leading sports performers through free, off-peak access to a number of sports facilities within the county for training and development. As part of the scheme, FANS members in full-time education in Kent and Medway can apply for grant aid to help them with the costs associated with competing at a national level.
In our latest round of funding applications, Active Kent & Medway has awarded a total of £6,000 grant aid to 48 young sports performers across the county. The young performers represent 21 different sports, including American Football, Artistic Roller Skating, Athletics, Badminton, BMX Racing, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, Karate, Korfball, Modern Pentathlon, Roller Hockey, Rowing, Swimming, Squash and Tennis. The individual grants will support the FANS members with equipment costs as well as travel and accommodation to National, European and World championships.

“The grant is most appreciated. With the last grant awarded a couple of years ago, he purchased some new running spikes, and they helped him to become U15 Boys National Champion. Fingers crossed this funding will have the same effect!”
