- When is the FANS scheme closing?
The FANS scheme across Kent and Medway will end on 31 March 2027.
- Can I renew my membership before the scheme closes?
Yes. Subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, all current members can renew up to and including 31 March 2026. Any renewals made before 1 April 2026 will receive a full 12‑month membership.
For any memberships due to expire before 30 June 2026, members who meet the eligibility criteria prior to 31 March 2026, have the option to renew early and submit their renewal up to and including 31 March 2026. They will receive a full 12-month membership from 1 April 2026.
- Will renewals be accepted after 1 April 2026?
No. Renewals submitted on or after 1 April 2026 will not be processed.
- Why is the scheme closing?
The decision has been made due to a shift in funding priorities for the Active Partnership.
- I’m a leisure provider — what does this mean for my facility?
We’re grateful for all the support leisure providers and facility operators have given the scheme over the years. After 31 March 2027, free access for FANS members will no longer be required as the scheme will cease to operate. Leisure trusts or providers may choose to establish their own talented performer programmes, similar to these local schemes across the county.
- Will talented athletes still be able to access support locally?
Some leisure trusts and facility operators now run their own talented performer schemes. We encourage athletes and families to explore the alternative schemes in their local areas.
- What happens to my FANS card or membership benefits after the closure date?
All FANS member benefits and card access will end on 31 March 2027.
- What about the FANS Small Grant for members in full time education?
For FANS members in full time education, the small grant helps with the costs associated with training and competitions. The grant window opens twice a year: in September and in February. The FANS small grant will continue to accept applications during these two months, up to the closing date of 31 March 2027. We will no longer process applications after this date.
