Everyday Active TEAM Challenge

Keeping active is great for our physical health and improving our mental wellbeing and doing it as a team can be especially rewarding.

Gather your colleagues, friends or family and join the new Everyday Active TEAM Challenge in January 2026 and let’s move together. You don’t have to be active with your team members but do support and encourage each other throughout the month. Whether you’re walking, wheeling, swimming, cycling or just staying active, every step counts. Track your progress, compete with other teams and enjoy the journey to a healthier lifestyle.

To take part, all you have to do is sign up to Kent’s free Activity Tracker and start logging your activities from 1 January 2026 – 31 January 2026. Prize draw winners are randomly selected at the end of the Challenge.

Everyday Active on Screen

""

To help spread the word about Everyday Active and encourage more people to become more active, we’ve produced some Everyday Active posters, postcards and z-fold cards which are free and available to all.

We have also produced some short films which can be used for in-house screens at GP Surgeries, waiting rooms, libraries, workplaces. If you would like to add a short film to your in-house screen, please contact us at activekent@kent.gov.uk and we will share the relevant files or you can download them directly.

Mental Health in Motion

UK Active’s Mental Health in Motion report highlights the powerful link between physical activity and mental wellbeing, revealing that 72% of people with mental health conditions say exercise helps them stay well and remain in work, yet only 16% meet the recommended 150 minutes of activity per week.

The study, supported by Mind, shows that improving mental health is the top reason for joining gyms and leisure centres, with 85% citing it as their main motivation. However, barriers such as cost, confidence and feeling uncomfortable persist, particularly among women and younger adults. The report calls for greater collaboration between employers, policymakers and the fitness sector to make physical activity an everyday essential.

If you’re a local activity provider who would like to add your sessions to the finder, you can input your details for free onto Open Sessions and the activity finder will pick up the session details from there. For support, please email activekent@kent.gov.uk and one of the team will be in touch.

Inclusive Communications

To make sessions more welcoming and accessible, we encourage all clubs and sports providers to use Activity Alliance’s Inclusive Communications Factsheets. These practical resources offer clear guidance on language, imagery and messaging that resonates with disabled people and those with long-term health conditions.

By adopting inclusive communication, you’ll not only promote your activities more effectively but also help break down barriers, ensuring everyone feels informed, valued and motivated to take part.
