The holiday season is upon us and The Daily Mile Santa Dash is back for another year. On Friday 5 December 2025, schools are encouraged to run, wheel or walk their Daily Mile.
This free, festive event is a brilliant way to help children stay active, feel good and end the term on a high. When schools register, they’ll receive access to a FREE Santa Dash resource pack, including a festive assembly, certificates, and classroom activities that bring the Dash to life. Kent Schools Health Team
Being physically active is essential for maintaining a healthy weight and overall wellbeing. The Kent Schools Health Team offer some excellent guidance and resources for schools and families, including bite-sized videos to help children feel supported in making positive, healthy lifestyle choices. Whatever your shape or size, you can make a difference by leading the way with healthy habits.
Shooting Stars by England Football

Disney inspired Shooting Stars by England Football has been designed to support girls aged 5-11 develop their speaking and listening skills through creative play and storytelling, as well as support the development of their physical literacy and introduce them to football.
Using the inspiration of Disney stories which are engaging, memorable and familiar to the girls participating, girls get ‘lost in play’, work harder and have increased heart rates. The stories inspire girls to get active and engage in sport with their friends. Schools can sign up to access a range of online resources and there is also the opportunity to book onto CPD sessions.

Let's Move Campaign

The Government have launched ‘Let’s Move!’, a new campaign supported by Sport England and the NHS, to help keep families active together all year round.
Children need 60 minutes of physical activity each day, with at least 30 minutes of that outside of school. You don’t need to buy expensive equipment or find lots of extra time to make a difference. Every bit of movement adds up to support their health and wellbeing.
NHS Better Health have lots of ideas to help. Whatever your family enjoys, there’s a fun way to get moving together.
Supporting Young People Mental Wellbeing

As the days grow shorter, we often see a decline in young people’s physical activity and with it, a drop in mental wellbeing. That’s why we’re taking this opportunity to highlight the vital role that physical activity plays in supporting mental health.
Sport England’s Active Lives Children’s and Young people survey shows that there is a positive association between being active and improved mental wellbeing. Children who are more active are happier, have reduced depressive symptoms and behavioural and emotional difficulties (Booth et al, 2023).
Active Kent & Medway has worked with a number of secondary schools to deliver mental wellbeing pilot projects, using physical activity sessions to support young people’s mental health.
