A total of £148,295 has been awarded to 28 Kent charities, social enterprises and clubs to help the county’s over-50s get active, stay mobile, live healthier and independent for longer.
The organisations and groups successfully applied for grants of up to £6,000 a year over three years to help cover the costs of running free activity sessions for Kent County Council’s Forever Active Kent Service. This new service replaces KCC’s Postural Stability Falls Prevention Service.
Delivered in partnership with Active Kent & Medway, the Forever Active Kent Service will launch in April with free activity sessions to inspire residents 50 and older to be physically active and along the way:
- boost mental health and wellbeing
- improve strength and balance to increase independence for longer
- reduce the risk of long-term health conditions, including cancer and depression

Diane Morton, Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health, said:
“Congratulations to all our successful applicants. As Kent’s population gets older it’s more important than ever we give residents opportunities to age well. Forever Active Kent is a brilliant initiative aimed at getting people active earlier in life so they can remain healthy, strong and able into their later years. It will also mean they can keep doing things they love, or take for granted, like playing with the grandchildren or going to the shops. I’m looking forward to following the scheme’s progress and visiting a group session.”
Elise Rendall, Active Kent & Medway’s Strategic Lead for Health and Physical Activity, said:
“We’re delighted to be working with Kent County Council and all the successful grant recipients to help support healthy ageing in our communities. Increasing physical activity is one of the most powerful ways to delay the onset of long-term conditions such cancer and depression, whilst improving strength, balance, mental wellbeing and social connection. The Forever Active Kent Service will play a vital role in helping more people across the county stay active, connected and independent for longer.”
Tom Tsangarides, Director and Founder of Inclusive Sport, said:
“We’re thrilled to receive a Forever Active Kent grant. At Inclusive Sport, we’re committed to creating safe, welcoming spaces where people of all ages and abilities can feel confident, connected and proud of what they can do. This grant enables us to expand our inclusive strength and conditioning sessions for over‑50s, helping more people stay active, improve their wellbeing and feel part of a community that understands and supports them.”
Sam White, Sports and Recreation Officer, Gravesham Borough Council, said:
“We’re really pleased to receive support through the Forever Active Kent grant. This funding will help us expand opportunities for residents aged 50 and over to stay active and maintain their independence for longer. Working alongside partners like Active Kent & Medway enables us to deliver local solutions that support healthier, stronger communities.”
Details of all the successful grant recipients and their free activity sessions available across Kent, will be listed on Everyday Active from April 2026.
