We are delighted to announce the appointment of two new Sport Welfare Officers.
Stuart Butler and Jimmy McCormack have joined Active Kent & Medway as part of the new national network of officers recruited across England to support National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and their local clubs to promote good practice and safe sport for children, young people and adults on a local level.
Liz Davidson, Active Kent & Medway Partnership Director said,
“We welcome the introduction of the new, national network of Sport Welfare Officers and are delighted that Stuart and Jimmy have joined the team. Safeguarding and welfare are essential to ensuring safe environments for everyone. We look forward to working with the national Active Partnerships team, NGB’s and local clubs to help make this happen.”
Stuart and Jimmy will add capacity and expertise to the existing safeguarding work of NGBs and Active Kent & Medway. They will focus on providing additional support to local sports clubs by helping the Club Welfare Officers embed safeguarding policies and procedures, as well as sharing good practice. In addition, links will be strengthened across organisations working on welfare and safeguarding, both inside and outside sport, and at national and local level, to support safe and inclusive experiences in clubs.
Stuart and Jimmy are also keen to hear directly from clubs who want to discuss their welfare and safeguarding needs and identify how they can best provide support. Please contact either Stuart or Jimmy direct.
