I am a 14 year old female and have been Baton Twirling since the age of six. My mum became my coach and I enjoy the hours spent together in the training halls, learning new skills and choreographing routines. My dream was to one day represent my country and love that my mum is, and has been behind me every step of my journey towards making my dream come true.
What are your sporting achievements to date?:
I achieved my dream at the age of nine when I was selected to represent England in the World Championships in Holland in 2020, in which I was extremely proud to be placed 10th in the WFNBTA World championships. I have also achieved 8th place in the European 2022 Champions in France and 11th place in the 2023 IBTF World Championships in Liverpool. I have recently returned from Holland in which I represented England in the 2024 European Championships and was extremely proud to be award 5th place medalist. I work extremely hard every week and over the last 7 years I have been awarded over 500 Regional and Open Competition 1st place awards and over 80 National Championship titles for NBTA, BBTSA and BBTF. The most important achievement is making friendships all over the world and making memories to cherish for a lifetime.
How does the FANS scheme support you?:
Thanks to the FANS scheme I have been able to use Tenterden Leisure Centre to hire courts in the main hall, to work on my International and National Baton Twirling performances. The facilities are extremely beneficial and help me to accomplish and master my skills, which is crucial to my training programme. All the staff at Tenterden Leisure Centre are extremely supportive and always wish me well for all my competitions. Therefore, if it wasn’t for the scheme, I would undoubtedly not be where I am now.
What are your hopes and dreams for the future?:
I am really excited to be given the opportunity to use my achievements and Baton Twirling skills in my GCSE school course work, and I hope to achieve high grades to enhance my goal of becoming a qualified coach and having a successful team of my own.
