Jack Dalton profile picMy name is Jack. I’m 11 years old, and two years ago, I took up Roller Hockey with Herne Bay Roller Hockey Club. At age 3, I was diagnosed with autism, and I find that sport regulates me and helps with daily challenges. At age 5, I joined my local football team and still play for them now, but my greatest passion is skating.

What are your sporting achievements to date?

The 2024 season has been nothing short of spectacular for Herne Bay Roller Hockey Club.  My U13 team, in particular, has been a force to be reckoned with, finishing the season undefeated and boasting an impressive goal difference. Under the expert guidance of coaches John Dalton and Peter Cudby, we have not only won matches but also captured the hearts of our supporters. Our success has earned us a coveted spot in the prestigious Eurockey 2024 tournament in Barcelona. This event is one of the most esteemed international competitions in roller hockey, bringing together top teams from around the globe. It represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete on an international stage, gain invaluable experience, and make our mark in the sport.

How has the FANS scheme helped you reach where you are now?

The FANS Scheme gives me the opportunity to fund international trips and further my development training. I make use of Herne Bay Arena and Whitstable Sports Centre. I would recommend the FANS scheme as it opens up all sorts of opportunities.

What are your hopes and dreams for the future?

I would like to play professionally in Barcelona or Portugal.

Thank you Jack for sharing your story. We wish you all the best and look forward to following your sporting journey.
