Eilidh profile pictureI am 15 years old and attend Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar school. I started Fencing at 8 years old when I joined Tunbridge Wells Fencing Club. I have been training there ever since and am now part of the GBR Development Pathway Programme. I have represented Great Britain on the Under-17 European circuit events and have represented Scotland in two Commonwealth Youth Championships.

What are your sporting achievements to date?

In 2023 I won a silver medal in the British Under-14 Championships, followed by a bronze in Under-16 Championships in 2024. I am the current Scottish Under-17 and Under-20 Champion in Women’s Epee. As part of GBR Under-17 team, I compete in competitions all across Europe on a regular basis. I recently competed in the Commonwealth Youth Championships in New Zealand where I achieved a bronze medal in the Under-20 individual event as well as bronze medals in the Under-17 and Under-20 teams.

How has the FANS scheme helped you reach where you are now?

The FANS scheme gives me regular access to a well equipped gym and pool at Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre. This has allowed me to really work on my strength and conditioning programs which is a vital part of our training to help me to improve.

What are your hopes and dreams for the future?

I am currently working towards selection for GBR for the European Under-17 Championships. Longer term I want to go on to fence for Great Britain in senior World Championships and hopefully the Olympics.

Thank you Eilidh for sharing your story. We wish you all the best and look forward to following your sporting journey.
