Through our Sport Welfare project, we are offering local clubs a chance to pilot a FREE culture reflection tool. This is a great opportunity for clubs to reflect and strengthen their environment.

What is the Culture Reflection Tool?

It is a strengths‑based tool designed to help clubs have open, constructive conversations about their culture. It focuses on three core pillars:

  • Supportive – welfare and safety come first
  • Welcoming – everyone feels they belong
  • Inclusive – all voices are represented

The three pillars provide a clear framework, with five simple indicators, showing what good practice looks like in action. The tool has three reflection levels and clubs can choose which pillar and level suits their needs or capacity.

The reflection tool is not an audit or inspection. It is developmental – guiding conversations and building on existing strengths.

Why take part?

Every club is in a different place. Taking part in this pilot will help you:

  • Gain a clearer picture of your club’s culture.
  • Celebrate what’s already working well.
  • Hear a range of perspectives from across the club.
  • Spot simple, realistic improvements.
  • Strengthen belonging, safety and enjoyment for everyone involved.

What does the pilot involve?

  • An initial chat with Jimmy McCormack, our Sport Welfare Officer.
  • A facilitated session with your committee or a small group of club representatives.
  • Guided reflection using the tool’s indicators and discussion prompts.
  • Follow‑up support, as needed, to help agree next steps.
  • Optional deeper reflection for clubs wanting to explore more areas.

Is this the right tool for your club?

Yes, if you want to strengthen your club culture, improve communication and shared understanding, support volunteers and participants to thrive and make your club a place people feel proud to be part of. The tool works for clubs of all sizes, sports and structures.
