Introduction

Swale is one of Active Kent & Medway’s four Place Partnerships areas, selected as part of the second phase of Sport England’s national £250 million Place Partnerships programme to tackle inactivity and reduce health inequalities. As a Phase 2 investment area, Swale is among the areas in Kent identified as having some of the highest levels of inactivity and deprivation, making it a key place where a long‑term, community‑led approach can drive meaningful change.

As we move into the early stages of Swale’s Place Partnership journey, we are working closely with partners across local government, health, community organisations and the voluntary sector to build strong foundations. This includes developing shared priorities, mapping existing community assets and beginning to identify opportunities for collaborative, community‑led projects. The approach will be informed by the learning gained across our other Place areas and guided by local voice from the very start.

As the Place Partnerships programme progresses, we’ll continue to listen, learn and work closely with local people and partners to create long‑term, sustainable change for Swale.

Swale’s Community Connectors

Our Community Connectors play a vital role in bridging strategic Place Partnership goals with the lived experiences of local residents, ensuring community voices shape meaningful, place‑based action. We are currently recruiting community connectors for Swale.
