The Forever Active Kent Service, co-ordinated by Kent County Council (KCC) and Active Kent & Medway, is designed to support and encourage older adults to take part in physical activities that help them stay healthy, independent and connected.

About the Service

Forever Active Kent replaces Kent County Council’s Postural Stability Falls Prevention Service*. Local organisations and community groups across Kent have been supported through the Forever Active Kent Fund (application window now closed) to deliver engaging and accessible activity opportunities for adults aged 50 and over. The Forever Active Kent Service focuses on:

  • Helping older adults, aged 50 and older, to increase and maintain their strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination in a place and time that suits them.
  • Ensuring older adults can access the information they need and participate in safe and enjoyable physical activities close to home.
  • Increasing the number of people supported from underserved communities and where the need is greatest.
  • Reducing inactive lifestyles such as sitting for too long, and helping older adults to remain independent for longer, enjoy a better quality of life, and delay and in some cases prevent the onset of disability.

The activity sessions will be free of charge and will commence from April 2026. Details of all the available sessions across Kent will be listed on Everyday Active from April 2026.

*The decision to change the Postural Stability, and help adults stay mobile, strong, connected, and independent for longer, was taken by KCC’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health. This followed approval by KCC’s Adult Social Care and Public Health Cabinet Committee on 8 July 2025 and an earlier public consultation. Visit Let’s Talk Kent to see the consultation report, equality impact assessment and response.
