Container for Equipment Storage

Project Overview

golf courseVillage Golf Club is a 12-hole pitch and putt style golf course set in parkland on the outskirts of Staplehurst village. The course can be played by all standards, from junior players, those new to the game or experienced players who want to improve their short game.

Active Kent & Medway awarded the club £2,500 towards a storage container so machinery could be stored safely and securely. Additional funds from two other grants and their own reserves enabled the club to make a concrete base and ramp, erect a security bollard and purchase and fit a new lock.

The club worked with the community payback team to undertake ground works, this reduced costs and allowed offenders to give back to the community.

  • Development of new relationships with other organisations
  • Equipment stored safely and securely
  • Improve club infrastructure without raising subscriptions
  • Recognition from local community

“The boost that it has given to the volunteers who work so hard to maintain and develop this resource has meant we feel that the efforts we are making for the community are being recognised by a wider audience”.

Key Learning

Planning around the weather

Unfortunately, we can’t control the British weather. When planning projects think about the time of year to avoid the worst of the weather and reduce delays.

Recognise your volunteers

Look at ways you can recognise volunteers for the work they do to maintain and develop the club. Clubs can’t run without these valuable assets, so look after them.

Partner with local organisations

Working with other local organisations can bring together knowledge, skills and resources, enhancing opportunities. Tapping into different experiences and opinions can create joined up solutions and new ideas.
