Key Learning
Understanding energy costs
Look at ways you can identify energy consumption and track daily or weekly readings to understand the peaks and troughs of energy usage. Use this to identify where reductions could create the most saving. Sport England have created a useful guide to reducing energy costs.
Volunteer support
Get volunteers on board to support you with your project. Find members who have an interest and want to learn more about the subject; their enthusiasm and encouragement will bring new ideas and push the project forward.
Next Steps
The club continues to work towards a net carbon zero performance through a rainwater harvesting system, LED lighting, solar installation and planting of over 2,500 trees and hedges. The club have delivered training and demonstrations for their rainwater harvesting facility and plan to continue these with their solar project so other communities can see what is achievable.
