Local Authorities

A good starting point for finding out what is going on in your local area is to contact your district’s sports development officer.

Local authority contacts

National Governing Bodies (NGBs)

NGBs are typically independent, self-appointed organisations that govern their sports at UK, GB or home country level. They will be able to provide information about the sport that they govern, and most will also have details of clubs or places where you can take part.

National Disability Sport Organisations (NDSOs)

The National Disability Sports Organisations (NDSOs) are a good starting point for many disabled people who want to be more active. They provide advice, support and opportunities for people of all ages with specific impairments.

The eight NDSOs are: British Blind Sport, Cerebral Palsy Sport, Dwarf Sports Association UK, LimbPower, Mencap, Special Olympics Great Britain, UK Deaf Sport and WheelPower.
