Everyday Active WoW Challenge

This autumn, we’re inviting you, your friends, family and colleagues to join our Everyday Active WoW (Walking or Wheeling) Challenge.

Throughout October we’re encouraging everyone to walk more or wheel more, if you use a wheelchair or mobility scooter. A daily brisk walk or wheel can lift your mood, get your heart pumping, lower the risk of serious health issues and help you achieve the recommended 150 minutes of moderately intense physical activity every week (Chief Medical Officer). To take part, all you have to do is sign up to Kent’s free Activity Tracker and start logging your walking and wheeling activities from 1 October 2024 – 31 October 2025.

Become an Everyday Active Champion

We’re seeking volunteer champions in Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Dartford to help local residents move more, every day.

As an Everyday Active Champion, you’ll connect residents with free or low-cost ways to be active; keep your community’s webpage up to date (training provided!); share Everyday Active resources in your area; join a supportive network of Champions across Kent and Medway. There are no set hours, just your enthusiasm, local knowledge, and a bit of time to make a real difference. Interested or know someone who might be? Please contact Yasmin at yasmin.hosken@kent.gov.uk

Live Longer Better Network Event

The next Kent and Medway Live Longer Better Network Event will take place online on Thursday 25 September 2025, 1.30pm – 2.45pm.

We are delighted to welcome our guest speaker, Linda Smith, Kent Public Health Specialist (Older Adults) who will talk about the recently published Health Needs Assessment Report and the introduction of a new funding stream for organisations supporting the over 50’s.
