Grant Conditions
Overview
The Kent Stop Smoking Service Support Grant 2024/2025 is being administered by Active Kent & Medway on behalf of Kent County Council (KCC).
KCC delivers a Stop Smoking Service though Kent Community Health Foundation Trust (KCHFT) as part of its holistic Healthy Lifestyle service, One You Kent (OYK). This service supports around 2,800-3,000 people a year to quit smoking.
The Kent Stop Smoking Support Grant seeks to work with local charities and not for profit organisations to complement the work of the existing Stop Smoking Service, providing grants of up to £10,000 towards small initiatives that will support the reduction of smoking prevalence in Kent.
Grant Objectives
- To support KCC to achieve its target of helping 26,937 Kent residents to quit smoking by 2029. (6,252 expected quits in Year 1).
- To work closer in communities with a focus on our priority groups:

– Unemployed
– Lower socio economic groups

– LGTBQ+ community
– People experiencing homelessness
– Smokers in substance misuse treatment services

Projects
We are looking for innovative projects to support our objectives, however examples are given below of projects we may consider but is not an exhaustive list.
- Projects that increase resources to help individuals set a quit date or to quit smoking, such as:
– Cut down to quit initiatives.
– Smoking Harm Reduction.
– Smoking Cessation training for staff.
- Projects that increase referrals and improve pathways into KCC commissioned stop smoking services. This could include:
– Dedicated marketing materials on KCC’s stop smoking services
– Consultation and outreach to promote available stop smoking support.
– Funding for events with priority groups to promote stop smoking offer.
- Projects increasing promotion of KCC’s ‘Stop Smoking Services’ and the benefits of quitting smoking. This could include:
– Creating marketing/imagery for our priority groups to increase engagement with services.
– Purchasing stop smoking materials.
– Creating smoke free spaces with details on support available to quit.
Funding
Grants are available of up to £10,000, although it is expected that most grants awarded will be in the region of £5,000.
If successful in receiving a Stop Smoking Grant, 100% of funds will be released upfront. Any funding not spent, or not spent in line with the agreed initiative will be recovered by KCC.
KCC are unable to roll over funding into the next financial year and will use this grant process to utilise underspend. Therefore, the grants are likely to be spent within the financial year they’re awarded and hence it is imperative they can be mobilised quickly.
Eligibility
The grants are open to charities and not for profit organisation operating in the Kent County Council administrative boundary. All funded projects and schemes must be delivered within districts of Kent County Council. Organisations are only permitted to submit one application per bid round. Where multiple bids are received in the same bid round from the same organisation, KCC will award to the highest scoring bid contingent on it meeting criteria as set out in Section 4 of the Grant Prospectus.
The funding cannot be used for:
