Liz Davidson, Active Partnership Director – Appointed Active Partnership Director in October 2022, Liz brings with her a wealth of experience from a 20-year career working in the sport and physical activity sector. Liz’s most recent job was Head of Engagement at British Shooting, but she has also worked for Women in Sport and UK Athletics as well as running her own consultancy business.


 

School Games logoThe Future of the School Games

Celebrating a 10-year legacy from London 2012 this session will reflect on the development of the School Games over the past 10 years, and how it has evolved to ensure we are reaching the young people who need it the most.

Fiona Firth, Youth Sport Trust – Fiona has worked in the sport and physical activity sector for 15 years starting as a local sports coach before moving to New York to complete her masters in Therapeutic Recreation, working specifically with children with autism. She then returned to the UK and worked within an Active Partnership leading on many CYP projects and programmes including leading on their County School Games offer. She has now been at the Youth Sport Trust for 3 years as a Development Manager taking the mission and vision of the organisation and embedding it locally.

Healthy Weight – Reframing Our Approach Through Wellbeing

This keynote will highlight the unprecedented jump in obesity figures in relation to children and young people over the last two years, and how KCHFT have responded to this with a change in approach. It will also consider how a more holistic approach, using the six ways to wellbeing, may be useful in addressing both physical and emotional health concerns relating to excess weight.

Zoe Fish, Kent Community NHS Foundation Trust – Zoe has worked with children and young people for over 15 years in different settings on a variety of projects including mental health, looked after children, young carers and healthy schools. Zoe’s current role allows her to think broadly about health outcomes for children and young people, and how to best support schools to deliver high quality health education to children, information for families and training for teachers and other professionals.

The Voices of the Next Generation

The single biggest driver of activity for young people is enjoyment. To make sure this happens we need to listen to young people and involve them in the decision-making process to create experiences that young people want. Hear what local children think about being active and what we can do together to support them.

Planning a High Quality Ambitious Physical Education Curriculum

It is essential that a broad and balanced physical education curriculum is provided for pupils.  This session will outline the need for key structured and progressive content and will help you to reflect on the suitability of your offer.

Steve Caldecott, Association for Physical Education. Steve is an education consultant with significant leadership and teaching experience in secondary, further and higher education. He has also lead teacher training programmes for primary non specialists. He is a physical education specialist and is currently undertaking significant roles for the Association for Physical Education including as lead on the Sport England Teacher Training project, as the national lead for health and safety, and he is a member of the group researching schools placing PE at the heart of the school.  He has also been involved in school inspection for over twenty years.
